  2. Yep; it was interesting, but the end was very disappointing.

I used to think the Americans were being pretty amateurish in their international empire building. Now I see it differently. It is not the American people as a whole, but just a small group of plutocrats (of whom some are (treacherous) Americans) – and they are very clever!

I don’t know. People are pretty well sold on the current ‘zeitgeist’. I often think; people just get what they deserve really! We’ve practically always had some small elite who rule.

I don’t like the idea of some sort of revolution or anything. It sounds much too destructive. Also; I’m reminded of ‘Animal Farm’ – where the pigs ended up being just as bad as the people were.

I’d prefer evolution as the vehicle for change. If we apply the right pressure, the change should occur in the right direction – theoretically!

Although, I don’t see us going backwards! Perhaps it just has to play itself out. Surely; it (the quest for global totalitarian rule) must fail eventually! Until the next despotic maniac comes along that is!

*Sigh* I’d just like to wash my hands of it all completely really! Do you know of a pirate ship I could join or something? I don’t fancy the chances of these guys though!

  3. Yep, I also sensed a smelly socialist rat in the last segments. It starts off well enough, but I couldn’t help but register a deep sense of something very wrong about the film as it progressed.

    Textbook utopianism.

It’s subtle change in direction (to the unknowing) also reminds me of religious propaganda, which starts off explaining that love is nice and helping people is great and there is enough resources in the world for people to be happy etc (there is) but changes tack at the end, I think we have all come across propaganda like that.

  4. I can’t recall the movie attacking the free market?

Has the movie changed that much since it intial release?

    Is it worth watching again?

  5. All of these points of view have been considered by me as probabilities. Zeitgeist seems to follow text book logic with its desires. It just so happens to be correct about the financial system and the other subjects it addresses.

Unfortunately, the human race isn’t a clean, straight example of logic. Individual people are way too complex, let alone societies. It also attacks the free market, which made my ears perk up.

Attributing the recent financial issues with the failures of the ‘free market’ is either an example of the lack of understanding of the free market principle (which has a low probability) or an attempt at attacking the concept of money and finance, which is more inline with the tone of the film.

That was a mistake in my opinion. In reality there hasn’t been a free market in decades. In reality it has been corporate fascism selling itself as free market.

But that’s another story. I think it is a good film and it adds to thevariety of discussions about global systems etc.

  6. Agreed, that’s pretty much how I felt about the Venus project, and it did make me wonder a little whether the Zeitgeist films are something of a marketing campaign _specifically_ for this project. I think there is a lot there which is very interesting nevertheless, and has made me question the world I live in from a somewhat different perspective.

  7. If anything it was pretty interesting. The ideas set forth by the Venus Project are a little to idealistic. It is our nature to compete for scarcity and I just don’t see that eliminating money will change that.

  8. Thought provoking – and let’s be honest, Crapitalism only ends one way… maybe it it time to try something else. Socialism rehashed? Maybe so, though the “rehashed” bit is a little like saying the digital age is like the industrial age rehashed…. hmm…

  9. I’ve heard all this boring rubbish before… it’s just socialism rehashed. Apologies for not giving a more detailed response to why I don’t agree with these videos… I’m too tried and burnt out.

  10. l remember seeing the first version of this. Towards the end the narrator said that we need not be afraid, we just have to use the left side of our brain and embrace our feminine side. You could make comments at that time and wrote “utter feminist tosh.” This segment seems to have been removed.

The films are a clever amalgamation of those made by Aaron Russo, Alex Jones et al. The UN stated aim is to create a One Word Government and to that end they have to destroy religion, nationalism and family. They would also like to reduce the world population. The same aim as the ruling elite. The Venus Project (the word Venus gives me pause for thought) appears to be advocating just that. They are also, like the UN and the Ruling Elite, very big on environment.

Take a look at phase three of the Project (my emphasis)

To test its designs and proposals The Venus Project is working towards putting its ideals into practice by the construction of an experimental research city. Blueprints for most of the initial technologies and buildings have begun. Fund-raising efforts are currently under way to help support the construction of this first experimental city. This new experimental research city would be devoted to working towards the aims and goals of The Venus Project, which are:

    1. Realizing the declaration of the world’s resources as being the common heritage of all Earth’s people.

    2. Transcending the need for the artificial boundaries that separate people.

    3. Outgrowing monetary-based, nationalistic economies with a resource-based world economy.

    4. Assisting in stabilizing the world’s population through education and voluntary birth control.

    5. Reclaiming and restoring the natural environment to the best of our ability.

    6. Redesigning our cities, transportation systems, agricultural industries and industrial plants so that they are energy efficient, clean, and able to conveniently serve the needs of all people.

    7. Sharing and applying new technologies for the benefit of all nations.

    8. Developing and using clean, renewable energy sources.

    9. Manufacturing the highest quality products for the benefit of the world’s people.

    10. Requiring environmental impact studies prior to construction of any mega projects.

    11. Encouraging the widest range of creativity and incentive toward constructive endeavor.

    12. Outgrowing nationalism, bigotry and prejudice through education.

    13. Outgrowing any type of elitism, technical or otherwise.

    14. Arriving at methodologies by careful research, rather than random opinions.

    15. Enhancing communication in schools so that our language is relevant to the physical conditions of the world.

    16. Providing not only the necessities of life, but also offering challenges that stimulate the mind while emphasizing individuality rather than uniformity.

    17. Finally, preparing people intellectually and emotionally for the changes and challenges that lie ahead.

Also the founder of the project seems to have shared a podium with an infamous lady.

“At Princeton University , Mr. Fresco addressed the Department of Sociology. His subject was Sociology of the Future. Along with the well- known scientist Margaret Mead,.”

I am, more than, a tad suspicious.
